My Creative Scrapbook March Sneak Peeks

Lots of little details went into this layout!  I used a craft knife to cut up scallops on the heart and make them look like ruffles.   I also added hand stitching and lots of layers!  I did a lot of single picture layouts this month - that's unusual for me - but that's just how it worked out!  This one is a picture of my little girl swinging away a couple years ago.  I have been waiting for just the right layout to use it on and I think all the Pebbles Inc supplies in it worked out perfectly!

My Creative Sketches - January Sketch

It's time for the new sketch contest at My Creative Sketches and I squeezed in some time to play along this month!  Here's what the sketch looks like this month:

I used up the remains of my January Creative Kit and added some Doodlebug supplies to it! I decided to scrap one of my daughters pictures in her Christmas dress from this year. I am perpetually behind on Christmas pictures so I thought since it looked so nice with these papers why not go for it!  I also added in some JustNick cut files!  I'm kind of missing that team already!  Both the "cherish" title and the frame on the picture come from there.  I fussy cut that row of flowers/circles at the bottom of the layout.  That was a task!  I also used more of that washi tape from the kit as my top and bottom borders!  Love that stuff, I hope Pebbles makes more!!! We hope you'll play along this month and link up your sketch interpretation too!

Snow Layouts

If you love winter and love scrapbooking about it then this month's Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook is perfect for you! Today I am going to share with you the three additional snow themed layouts that I did.  I was able to get one layout for each of my kids out of this kit!  The layout about my oldest I shared earlier in the week and you can find it here.

First up is a layout about my daughter. The kit includes a bunch of washi tape strips.  It's nice because instead of one huge roll you get 12 inches of tons of designs.  I decided to use it to create a frame on the layout.  I went slowly and did mitered corners.  That was a somewhat tedious process but I was happy with how it turned out anyway!  I added the picture in the middle and minimal embellishments since there was already a lot going on.

This layout includes a background page that already had a scene built into it.  I decided to run with that and just add some simple embellishments.  I stamped the top part of the background with the stamp that was included in the kit.  I then added a few die cut pieces and the rosettes. I had to include the fox die cut because of Cooper's fox hat!

For this last one I went crazy with the washi tape again.  I created the background by layering various sized strips.  I left out the pinks and purples though because I knew it was gonna be a boy layout!  The cute snowmen were great to add above my picture kind of popping out to say hello.

Summer Fun Layouts

I'm gonna let you in on a little secret today - these two layouts were 95% done in my car while we were on vacation!  I had intended to work on them the night before we left BUT our washing machine died.  So we had to hustle out and get a washing machine so that Grandma and the kids weren't without one the whole time we were gone!  So I grabbed my Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook and a few tools and took them along.  A couple days while we were sitting in the car, I worked away.  It was surprisingly easy!  I will have an upcoming tutorial on that for you soon!

This was my first creation with the kit!  I saw the grid paper and knew I wanted to cut it into some big letters!  That was the basis for my whole layout (well that and the pictures).  After i cut those out and lined up my pictures it was simple to add a few fun embellishments and call it good!  Love it when things come together quickly and smoothly!

This one has a different feel for me - almost a digital/pocket page feel to it!  But it was done in the car also (except the black doodling).  This was super easy!  I put my pictures and the "We All Scream for Ice Cream" and "Sweet Summertime" pieces down and then just filled in the spaces from there.  Each space got some stickers or a button pieces to add some more fun to them.  I have been trying really hard to keep more current on my pictures so that I don't lose those memories over time...this kit this month features three out of four layouts with pictures from our camping trip last month!  Yay!

All About Me - Favorite Foods

Happy (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day!  I hope you are able to squeeze in a little creative time!  I am running a bit late on my late about myself for the month of April!  For the record, I did finish it the last day of April :)  For this month's focus I decided to talk about foods that I love.  I based my layout on a sketch from My Scraps & More that I liked:

As you can tell I added a lot to the sketch :) I tend to do that!  I'm still struggling with the topic of creating about myself but this one was kind of fun.  I have compiled a really strange list of my favorite foods.  

I cut banners out of the patterned paper and did my list that way. I tried to print but my printer was not cooperating (it never is).  I like the way these ended up bordering the layers anyway!

Middle Kids Layout - My Creative Scrapbook

One day my Middle Kids were in the mood for taking cute pictures with me - so we did!  And this layout documents that fun moment!

This is another layout from the Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook this month.  Aren't the flowers just stunning?  I still have some left to play with - definitely going to be making some pretty cards! I really wanted to use the floral paper that I used on the left side, glad I was able to work it into a layout without it being too busy!

I also love the framed die cuts with cute little sayings that came in this kit!  Another stunning kit this month - get your hands on it while you can!

Baby Layout - My Creative Scrapbook

Today I have a fun baby layout to share with you that uses the April Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook! As I mentioned in my last post, I really enjoyed building scenes with the die cuts in this line.  In this very square layout, I did a whole bunch of scenes!

I started by cutting out a whole bunch of 3 X 3 squares using the fabulous patterned papers from the kit!  I then added lots of baby pictures!  These were just a mix of pictures that hadn't yet made it onto a layout. I cut those down to 2 3/4 X 2 3/4" In the boxes where I didn't have pictures I began to build scenes - doing some with stickers and die cuts and a few with some fussy cutting!  I kept one thing in common with all of them, they all have clouds, helping to tie the whole thing together!

Because I already used so much color, I opted for a black and white picture in the center!  I used the letter stickers to add a title around it and a few fussy cut words as added sentiments.

April 2015 Creative Kit

You caught a sneak of one of my layouts with the sneak peek day but here it is again!

This was my first creation out of the kit - the gorgeous paper flowers just screamed at me to make a wreath!  Using just them and some foam adhesive I built a circle around my picture.  I always decide I want to add mist after the fact...which is such a pain! But I carefully covered up elements and then added mist drops throughout in coordinating colors.  Without that my background was just a little too stark :)

The second layout I am going to share is another favorite!  I used the die cut pieces to build a scene around my picture!

As I laid out all the elements from the "Chips" pack I knew I wanted to use them to build a scene!  I also added some mist to the background here!  And as my final (but planned step) I added hand-stitched sun rays to my sunshine.  I have been doing more and more hand-stitching lately!  Love the texture it brings out in  my projects!

When I think stash I tend to also think back to pictures that I still need to get to - this little guy is almost 2 1/2 so it's high time I finish his month by month pictures!  I'm close...and thanks to this hop one month closer!

Whenever I do these I like to base it on the colors of his month sticker. So this month I went with the Red, White, Blue, and Gray color scheme.  That led me to some of Pebbles Inc's releases from last year.  Of course the colors are easily found in a patriotic line and then they had a great baby line with grays too!  I added journaling to the back because I just didn't have a place on the layout that I loved for it!  I definitely need the journaling so I can remember all the fun things he did at this age!

You Are My Sunshine - A Scraps Layout

Yesterday I shared with you the goal of scrapping more holiday pictures.  Today I am going to share another goal I have for 2015 - using up some of my stash that I have held onto because I love it! With the new year I have been busy doing some organizing, including organizing in my Scrapping Studio.  That is an ongoing thing and I have needed to get to scraps for awhile.  Today as I was tackling scraps I piled up pieces from this older line from Pebbles Inc - I believe it was released 2 years ago at CHA.  It caught my eye and I decided to pull it together into a quick layout!

My daughter and her godmother always take beautiful pictures together and this one was no exception.  The bottom of the layout is the bottom of a piece of patterned paper from the Party by Amy Locurto line.  I then added the You Are My Sunshine and picture with a matte. 

I pulled out the stickers from this line and started building a cascade up from one corner to the opposite side.  I love using this technique - it goes quick and pulls the eye towards the picture!  I topped the whole thing with a little washi tape to bring some color across the top.

Sketchy Saturday Week 16 - Scrapbooking about a nightmare?

Pretty simple but one of the big features is a big title!  Here's my interpretation:

Because the title and journaling actually are the main point of the layout I thought this was perfect for a big title.  It doesn't happen often for me but sometimes the words tell the story more than the picture and this was definitely one of those cases! About a month ago my son had a nightmare about a fox in his room.  It was hilarious how the story continued for days after.  I really wanted to document it because t was just a sweet moment!  This picture was perfect cause I feel like his face looks like he is telling a whopping tale!  I used a lot of Pebbles Inc's line Special Delivery because I knew it had a fox in it!  I also used cork accents and paper from American Crafts.  I cut my title out on my cameo and then used the negative space.  I filled that in with journaling.  I then used letter stickers to round out the rest of the story!

June Publication Layout

I didn't submit a ton this month because I was super busy!  But I did manage a card and layout and today I have that layout to share with you! This was published in the June issue of Create Magazine - a free online magazine that you can find here!

Hard to believe this little guy is walking and talking and a little boy now!  The entire layout is based on the one page sketch from the magazine and uses a variety of Special Delivery line from Pebbles.  I layered lots of strips of banners - trying to mix up the lighter and darker colors/patterns. Some stars and clouds add a touch of whimsy. I also played with fonts and slant to make for a unique title and journaling! I also added a little bit of mist splattering to help break up all the lines and leftover white space.

I didn't have any particular stash that I was looking to use up this month so I decided to base things on the color of my daughter's dress.  

Using sketches has really been helping me out of a mojo funk lately so this time around I decided to use the sketch from Creative Scrappers Sketch #269.  I loved the grid feel of it! My base paper was already stitched on (the scallop border) and as I was building my grid I decided I wanted to color in a design of my own that coordinated with Lucy's dress.  That was fun and definitely makes things one of a kind!  For my grid pieces I pulled out all my papers and stickers that I thought would match and just started lining things up!  Definitely a unique color pallet but I love it!
