Thankful for Family - 2 Page Scrapbook Layout

Don't you just love this time of year? A time to reflect on all our blessings, gatherings with friends and family, and of course yummy food! Today I have a layout showcasing my biggest earthly blessing, my family!  I decided to go with a two-page layout and share a lot of my favorite pictures from a recent fall adventure.  Let's take a look:

Not only are two page layouts great for getting lots of pictures on but also there's so much room to embellish and add some fun journaling.

One of my favorite things about Bella Blvd is how seamlessly you can marry all the products - even mixing and matching collections.  This layout includes pieces from all of these collections Squeeze the Day, Bella Besties, Home Sweet Home, and Let's Go on An Adventure.

By mixing and matching papers from several collections I was able to achieve that fall color scheme I was going for.

I punched out several big leaves and then folded them to add dimension. Puffy hearts in coordinating colors also made great accents.

Mixing and matching products to create a unique title is so much fun!  To make this one I combined a Florence Alphabet with two different Acrylic Words.  To give you a better idea of how this layout came together, I created a process video.  Here it is:

Thanks so much for joining me today!  Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Published Layout from Create Magazine

This month Paper House Productions is the featured manufacturer in Create Magazine!  The design team all contributed a couple of projects and today I am going to share one with you!  I used the Noir ColorWays line for my projects.  First up is a 2 page layout based on a sketch from the magazine:

Metallic gold is used in the accents of this line so I stuck with that as my added color!  I used a little bit of gold foil cardstock from Core'dinations to create my "Fun" title.

The variety of embellishments available with this line is so fun!

You can see the die cut pieces from the Accent Pack here and also Puffy Stickers and Rub-ons!  Love all the texture that adds!

This page uses more of the same embellishments and a variety of patterned papers too!  I also added in some gold outlining in a few spots to help make the patterns pop a little more!

I love the brush style script that the puffy words come in for this - super trendy!

I'll be back later in the week to share my other project but in the meantime - head over to the magazine and check it out!  It's free and full of inspiration!

Using Kiwi Lane Templates on 3 different types of Projects: Guest Design Spot

I am so excited to be guest designing on the Kiwi Lane Designs Blog this week sharing some of my new projects with you!  I have been a long time fan of Bella Blvd products and they are one of my favorites for two page layouts!  My last post as a design team member at Kiwi Lane was actually a  two page layout using Bella Blvd (you can check it out here)!  First up is a two page layout using the Molly line.Lovely Lucy Bella BLVD 2-page layout
The pink patterned paper with the words on it jumped out at me because of all it’s curves and swirls.  I knew it would be perfect to combine with Kiwi Templates.  I went with the Chestnut Drive Border Set because the curves pretty much fit around the word “Beautiful” perfectly.  After cutting that out for both sides, I added my pictures so that they would be enhanced by the curves.  The Chevron Border Templates are pretty much my favorite – so I used those also to create borders along the bottom.  Bella Blvd makes lots of great border stickers as well as a patterned paper sheet of borders – these complement the Kiwi Lane Border system so well!  To embellish the page I used the Rings Set (to create my sunshine) and the Tags Set for my journalling spot.

Pocket Page

We love our two pagers here at Kiwi Lane but we also know that the templates are great for other things too!  Next up I have a pocket page layout that makes use of them.Project Life Bella BLVD Layout
This pocket page has a really neat narrow side border which was screaming “Kiwi Lane, Kiwi Lane, Kiwi Lane” at me.  So I obliged ;).  I used one of the Large Brackets to create a layered border there.  I then filled each of the other pockets with layers of paper and pictures.  The Shapes set was especially useful for creating just basic shapes to highlight the photos. The Tags set was also useful for creating my “title” pocket with it’s perfect banner shape.

Paper Piecing

Lastly I have one of my favorite techniques using Kiwi Lane to share: paper piecing with the Chevron Border Set.The Joys of Boys Bella BLVD
I have done this technique a couple of other times!  Once for a Kiwi Lane Hop that you can find here and once for a Stash Busting Hop that you can find here.  Every time I need to combine vibrant papers with Kiwi Lane supplies I want to do this.  The Max line from Bella Blvd was perfect!  To do it I create five Chevron borders in five coordinating papers.  I then cut the chevrons apart and piece them back together.  There is something so satisfying about taking beautiful papers and putting them together in a different way to make them your own!  One thing I would recommend when trying this technique is having a good black pen to outline your shapes with.  I think they get a little lost otherwise and the black just makes them pop!

2 Page Travel Layout

One of my favorite places to visit and favorite location of childhood memories is just outside the Sequoia National Park in California.  Growing up we went there nearly every summer and camped - skiing on the lake, playing in the local rivers and having a great time.  Three years ago we got to visit there with my family too.  I have documented portions of it - but today I have a two page layout that documents a lot more of it!  My parents were along with us - although my mom took most of these pictures so she's hiding :)
2 Page Travel Layout
I created this layout based on a sketch in Create Magazine put out by Scrapbook Generation.  I enjoy playing with their sketches and try to whenever I have the free time (LOL free time) each month! Using a combination of camping themed lines from Paper House Productions and Pebbles Inc made it come together with some coherence.  The framed pictures were cut out from some awesome Paper House Productions paper! I can't believe how many pictures I managed to squeeze on here!  Hop on over to Scrapbook Generation and check out the whole July issue - it is full of awesome inspiration!

Kiwi Lane Designs Basic Sketch

I played along and created the sample today for the Kiwi Lane Designs Basic Sketch!  Here's the sketch:
scrapbook sketch

And here's my version!
The only big change I made was changing the brackets to circles.  I did that to pair up with the circle elements I used throughout the layout.  I always find two pagers challenging...so this was another good opportunity to stretch myself a bit!  I have had these pictures for awhile (obviously as Bo is almost 18 months now).  Just haven't found the right paper match for them but I think the Imaginisce got the job done!

Try to find some time to play along with this sketch this week and get in on the chance for a prize!  You can find all the details at Kiwi Lane!

A Two Page Bella Blvd Layout

I remember a time when I almost exclusively did two page layouts.  That is definitely no longer the case.  But there are times when that is exactly what I need to do to tell the whole story or use all the pictures I want to use.  Today I have a two pager featuring shots of my little Lucy.  I had a lot of fun playing with the title work on this one!

It is always so hard to show a two pager on a blog...so I will share some close ups!

I had fun playing with feathers, flags, and stitching on this one. Tip:  Think outside of the box with your color combinations, without the navy blue this layout would have a very different feel and could be less eye catching.  Throwing in the unexpected navy blue helps to add to the boldness.

Tip: When working with a longer title, varying the fonts and what the letters are created from help to add some interest to the title.

Do you still do two page layouts?  I'd love to see a link to one that you love!
