I have a dimensional card to share with you today!

I loved that Delaney Butterfly die and knew I wanted to find a way to work it in!  

I positioned it in strategic locations on the pink cardstock.  It created the negative space  and so I used that space to pop up the delicate butterfly - holding it in place with some twine for it's body.  The addition of the Small Hydrangea dies and Massa Leaf dies add to the delicacy of the whole card.  Honeydew Twine wrapping around the top aided in bringing in more color and texture.  What a fun combination!

Now on to my Christmas Project! I believe this line from My Mind's Eye is about 2 years old!  I actually didn't realize how much Christmas stash I had until I started digging into it for this...mostly paper but wow nonetheless.  

I opted to do a one picture layout which is pretty unusual for me!  I loved this picture of Lucy playing with the Nativity underneath the Christmas tree.  I know she won't be like that forever so I wanted to let it have a page of it's own.  I added a overlay over the top of the picture so you can see there is a little glare on it - but it also says Merry Christmas.  That was from my stash - yay!  I fussy cut some snowflakes and used some die cuts from Authentique and just started building up around the picture.  The banner title and subtitle gave me a vertical pull so I went with that!  After I added all the die cuts/stickers I went for texture and brought out some flair and wood pieces.  I still needed something...had to be sparkle.  So I built sparkle into the whole thing by using little white pearls and gold Stickles.  I can honestly say that before adding those I wasn't thrilled with the layout.  I had set it aside for a couple days hoping for some inspiration.  Alas it came!  I love how in scrapbooking sometimes just adding a little tiny detail can really take your layout to a new level!

Decorated Gift Bag

Today I have a gift bag that I created with Herbs & Honey from Basic Grey for The Scrapbooking Studio.  This line has some perfect elements for personalizing gift wrapping!

It has a pretty similar feel to the card I did the other day doesn't it?  Same line, similar embellishing - I suppose they could make a gift set even!  It uses some papers and die cuts for embellishing and then several stickers - all from Basic Grey except for the Sticker Stitches up top which of course come from the fabulous SRM Stickers.  I don't ever need to run out of those....I am using them on everything!  I also added the little wooden spools with twine on them again!  You can get this fun line from The Scrapbooking Studio!

Basic Grey "Herbs & Honey" Card

I shared a layout the other day and today I thought I'd share the card I made from the Basic Grey "Herbs & Honey" line.  The Scrapbooking Studio sells these cute little wooden spools that were a perfect match for the feel of this line.  I knew they had to be included on my card and maybe more!

I layered lots of papers and die cuts to create the card.  I then added some Sticker Stitches from SRM Stickers to again, add to the country feel of the card.  I then popped up the circle sentiment with foam adhesive.  I wrapped twine from The Twinery around each spool and slid them onto some pretty stick pins.  The stick pins stick perfectly into the foam adhesive so I don't have to worry about them moving or poking thru!  I love how this card turned out - it is probably one of my favorites that I have done lately!

Sketchy Saturday Week 17

I'm getting back into my routine post vacation and that means I am back with a new sketch this week!

I used this sketch to create a layout for The Scrapbooking Studio using the Herbs & Honey line from Basic Grey!

This is a really fun line with a lot of classic elements and a country summer feel to it.  I love the vibrant colors that are balanced out with some rich neutrals.  I also really enjoyed the sticker sets and other embellishments! I layered lots of die cuts and stickers to create a background.  The pictures have some silly faces with them so I decided to go for the humor card - my face and Cooper's face are quite special ;).  I'll be sharing more from this line in the next couple weeks!

Giving the I top a Workout!

On Tuesday I was up over at Imaginisce with a layout that showcases the awesome I Top tool!

Using the Little Princess line, I looked at the pink paper and knew I wanted to build a design off of that.  So I did some folded circles in the center of each diamond and then created my own brads to use in the corners.  I added a few gems and butterflies to keep it from being too monotonous.  Having a detailed and busy bottom portion of the layout allowed me to keep the top nice and simple - adding just a little patterned paper and a die cut.

Outlining with Twine

I love the twine from the Twinery and have been really enjoying playing with the solid colors lately!  I like to do outlines on my layouts with a pen but today I decided to do the outlining with actual Twine!

As you can see I went around the white square, the patterned square, and the photo mat.  This took some patience because to keep it straight I had to use quick drying glue and work slowly – but I like how it brings in the colors even more and helps to separate each layer.

I used liquid glue and a toothpick to apply the glue – only doing about 3 inches at a time and then pressing the twine down.  Because it dried quickly that ensured the twine was not popping back up on me!  The nice thing with the Twinery is that they have a color to match every color you are looking for!  Here’s the ones I used today!

Little Boy Layout

I am sharing a project today over at Leaky Shed Studio that features pieces from both Leaky Shed and Altered Pages!

I had some dragonfly goodies to work with from Altered Pages and decided to combine those with the chipboard dragonflies from Leaky Shed Studio.  Since I have three sons, dragonflies are perfect for summer fun with a more masculine feel.  

I opted to leave the chipboard in it's natural state because it brought in one more color from my base patterned paper!  And again it enhances that masculine feel.

I used pieces from the Dragonfly Dreams Muse Kit that included the cardstock dragonflies, the blue textured paper, the green paper, and the tag!  It's a neat kit because you can go a lot of directions with it - but for me a layout just jumped out because of the colors!

For my project today I played with one of Samantha's new baskets! This one is Circle Basket with Simple Bow (#62208)

1) Cut out all your pieces in the papers you like.

2) Fold the circle along the perforated edges.

3) Add a brad and some adhesive to hold the sides together

4) Assemble the bow

4) Add the handle using a brad and then attach a doily to decorate

6) Add a center flower to the bow

7) Fill with yummy goodness :)

The summery colors from the Carta Bella lines (Summer Lovin' and Cool summer) designed by Samantha were perfect for this basket!

Now on to my creation!

I used various pieces from the Cloud 9  to create a cascade of fun and whimsical shapes leading to my picture!  The colors in this line are just spectacular and I love those wood sequins!  I created some loops using my Pink Sorbet bakers twine behind the Flair buttons to create some flowers!

Here's how the whole thing came together!  And it tells the story of my cutie dressed up as Ramona for a school dress up day!  The whimsical elements from Chic Tags, fabulous words, and twine all come together to make it fun little layout!

See You Later (Card)

Today I start off vacation and our first stop is the zoo!  So it's the perfect time to share this fun animal themed card from the Echo Park "Day at the Zoo" line.  I made this as a sample for The Scrapbooking Studio.

I fussy cut the alligator and quote out and then added a couple of layers of different patterns behind it.  A quick little banner, some extra animal stickers, and enamel dots pull it all together to make a quick and cute card.  I am not sure how often I will have blog access over the next week so my posts may be scattered (or may not :)).  But I will definitely See You Later Alligator :)

Sketchy Saturday Week 16 - Scrapbooking about a nightmare?

Pretty simple but one of the big features is a big title!  Here's my interpretation:

Because the title and journaling actually are the main point of the layout I thought this was perfect for a big title.  It doesn't happen often for me but sometimes the words tell the story more than the picture and this was definitely one of those cases! About a month ago my son had a nightmare about a fox in his room.  It was hilarious how the story continued for days after.  I really wanted to document it because t was just a sweet moment!  This picture was perfect cause I feel like his face looks like he is telling a whopping tale!  I used a lot of Pebbles Inc's line Special Delivery because I knew it had a fox in it!  I also used cork accents and paper from American Crafts.  I cut my title out on my cameo and then used the negative space.  I filled that in with journaling.  I then used letter stickers to round out the rest of the story!

I decided to focus in on my patriotic stash and use some Doodlebug from their Kraft in Color and Patriotic Parade line.  The stickers are all from the Stars & Stripes line.

I have been loving the trend of a big circle as a focal point on your layout.  I have always loved circles....so yes, I will certainly embrace this trend :).  I knew I wanted to add text following the curves of the circle so after adding my pictures I did just that.  I then created clusters of stickers in three different points.  The pictures of my son wandering thru our local cemetery checking out flags were just perfect for a patriotic layout.  I used up nearly an entire two sheets of stickers - so some serious stash busting happened today!

You make my Heart Sing - Leaky Shed Studios

I am up over at Leaky Shed Studio today!  I'm a music teacher so when I saw the musical staff border I was very excited!  I debated using it on a layout but decided I really wanted to make a card with it!

One measure was a perfect fit for an A2 card!  So after using my black mist to color it, I cut it off there and added it to the top of the card.  I followed the curve of it to line the bottom with patterned paper.

I then topped the whole thing with heart embellishments and stickers to go with the color scheme.  It comes together to make a perfect card for celebrating someone be it their birthday, congratulations, or just encouraging them along!

4th of July Lantern - Imaginisce

The 4th of July is a great day to put out some fun decor and Imaginisce has some papers in the Perfect Vacation line that work just great for creating those projects!  Today I have a patriotic lantern to share with you that is featured over at Imaginisce.

I used a cut file to create this lantern that you can add a little electric tea light to for the evening hours.  Because the file comes with stars think of all the possibilities you could create with it!  You could do a baby shower decoration or a Christmas decoration all by using different lines from Imaginisce!

I cut the base in a dark blue patterned paper and then did the stars in some red paper.  I decided to just do USA in plain white so it wouldn't get lost in the patterns.  Some Red Irocks were the perfect embellishment.

To add some embellishing to the lantern I created a couple of Brads using my ITop and the same red patterned paper I had used earlier.  Not too overwhelming but adds some nice dimension and makes my embellishments one of a kind!
