Thanks Card

I love butterflies and love to fussy cut and today I have a card that features both.  This was featured yesterday on the Momenta blog.

The Butterfly Garden pyramid pad has the most beautiful springy papers in it, check it out...it does not disappoint!  My flowers and butterfly both came from that as did all the additional patterned paper.  Momenta has a wide variety of vellum sentiments to choose from, including the one I used here.  They add a nice, soft touch to any project.  

The Easter Dress Layout

I'm up at Momenta today sharing an Easter layout.  Just so we're clear...this is last year's Easter dress...I'm not that good!  But I thought it would be good to share some Easter inspiration now that we have all those pictures taken and maybe even developed.

This layout uses a couple of new items from Momenta and I especially want to highlight those.  It also uses black matting for most of the items...I'm loving this hot technique!  Have you tried it yet...I think it's so fun with pastels!   First off are the fabulous Build Your Own Banner pieces ST 5426.  These come in several varieties and each includes letter stickers.  I opted to use some different letters 17313 B & W Polka Dot Alphabet Sticker Pack that coordinated with what I was doing.  I think it is genius to have the Build Your Own option...so I didn't have to coordinate my layout to both the banner and letter stickers...I could make it work for me.  The puffy Easter word All Thru the Year Sticker 16383 is also new. It actually said Happy Easter...but I just used the Easter part...again, brilliant to keep them separated from each other because both words can certainly work on their own!

I also used some of  the Black & White clear layered flowers (ST-5127).  They are gorgeous...I think in my time at Momenta I've gone thru at least five packs of these, including using them on two cards that are in CARDS magazine!   You will not believe the pizazz these can add to a layout or card!

My patterned paper of choice for this layout was the Let's Party Pyramid Pad PK 2386.  I hope your Friday is kicking off a great weekend!  I'll be back in a couple days to share another project with you!

Simple Baby Card for a new Grandma

We're doing a baby feature this week at Practical Scrappers and this is the card I made for it.  I made a card for a new Grandma because I know a lot of people who are soon to be grandparents and thought it would be fun to have this on hand.  I used coordinating papers from Momenta as well as die cuts and stickers from Momenta.  I love that cute teddy bear and was glad I found a way to include him.  I like this because it could work for a girl or boy baby (:.  Plus the sassy sentiment is awfully cute!

Hunting for Eggs!

I had some time to scrap yesterday and decided to pull together a quick and simple Easter layout featuring my kiddos doing their egg hunt last year.  Trying to convince myself that sometimes a quick and simple layout will get the job done...if you tend to spend lots of time on each layout, you know exactly what I am getting at!  That said, I have three kids and one on the way...if I have any prayer of getting done what I want to some have to be quick!  I'm trying to to apply this especially to things that happen regularly and I want to scrap.  I scrap this exact subject every year...it's not like a once in a life event...so it can be a little less and frankly I think it still turned out pretty cute (:

I didn't set out to do it, but ended up using almost all Momenta products.  They have bright, fun, colorful lines...pretty much perfect for Easter (:  My favorite part is the brand new BYO Banner that I used up top.  It is a "Build Your Own" banner and comes with three colors for the penants and a coordinating letter sticker set.  Obviously I didn't use the letter stickers...but I love the colors and the size is great...not so small like a lot of banners you come across!  I'll be highlighting these more later in the week for my Momenta project.

CARDS magazine publication

This is my card that was published in the March issue of CARDS magazine.  They did an absolutely amazing job of photographing it...if you have the chance to check it out you will be wowed!  I experimented a lot on this card trying out stitching and misting for the first time ever.  That was about 8 months ago now and I do those techniques a lot, but it's fun to look back and see where things started!

So Sweet You Are, So Sweet You Be...Spring Card Inspiration

Today I have a simple spring card made with Quick Quotes goodies to share with you.  I used a 6 X 6 card base and then cut my One Fine Day patterned paper into 1 3/4" squares and created a grid pattern.  Grids are an easy way to jazz up a card without making things too busy.  I used a border punch on my Color Strip Vellum Quote to give that a softer edge.  I added some ric rac and flowers to embellish it and voila, a pretty and simple card with lovely spring colors. 

Whimsical Tree Canvas

I love clean and simple but striking art to decorate my home.  And who doesn't love creating their own!  I used 4 canvases that measure 8 X 1O to create this quick project.  For the record, I've never touched canvas before...so this was a venture into a whole new media for me!

 Each canvas uses a Whimsical Tree from Quick Quotes.  As soon as I saw these I knew I wanted to create something just like this!  I used four different colors of Powder Puff Chalking Inks: Maraschino Cherry, Amaretto, Green with Envy, and Lemonade.  For each tree I did three layers of chalking, allowing them to dry for just a couple minutes in between.  One layer would have created a more subtle color and I really wanted these to be bold.  I glued them down with Beacons 3 in 1 glue.  When all was said and done this whole project only took me about 3O minutes and that includes hanging time!

4OOth post, a giveaway, and Momenta!!!

This is my 4OOth post on my little scrapping blog...wowzers!  I'm so thankful to all of you readers that keep coming back to check in, I have a blast sharing with you!  First off I'm gonna share my layout that is up at Momenta today and then I'll tell you all about my giveaway!

If you're on Pinterest you've seen the "In this Family we do....." signs that list out all the things that describe their family.  I decided to take that idea and use a bunch of our message stickers for a similar idea.  After I layered several pieces of paper from the Family Forever 5 X 7 paper pack, I added my photo in the middle.  I then started cutting out my stickers (still on their acetate packaging) and laying them out trying to find words that worked.  I wanted to make sure to include something about Mom, Dad, Brothers, and Sisters in addition to general family descriptions.  It was very easy to do because Momenta's message stickers give you sooooo many options!  Plus bonus (!!!) no journaling necessary because it takes care of itself!  And how about that fun picture of my family! (:

Sweet and Simple

I've got a sweet and simple little card to share with you today.  I love the Paradise collection from Little Yellow Bicycle and that's where this sweet little bird comes from!  I used my Martha Stewart fringe scissors to give the bird some grass to stand on.  Add in a blinged up cloud and and some bright pink zebra paper and you can't go wrong.

Surfs Up

I know a lot of you are enjoying Spring Break right now and I thought a card fitting for spring break was called for!  Our school doesn't take a Spring Break, but we are enjoying delightful spring weather in the middle of our cornfields!  I have to admit that I am itching for some time at the beach or a few hours in a pool, but for now I'll keep scrapping and making cards on those fun topics :)

This one combines my two go two companies for card making...Momenta and American Crafts.  I combine them more than any others to make fun, lighthearted cards.  I love the dimension provided by the clouds, sunshine, and surfboard and the interesting texture from the twine.

The perfect way to scrap a whole bunch of pictures!

Have you ever gotten a piece of scrapbooking product that you just couldn't wait to try out?  I felt exactly this way about the "Frame with Doors" diecut.    I have three little kids and more pictures to scrap than I can ever possibly keep up with.  Finding something like this where I can knock out a whole bunch of pictures without having to spend 17 hours scrapping each and every one is a huge help!  I just had to decide which set of pictures to go with!  Since I'm feeling tired of the end of winter weather we've been having, I decided to go with some Beach pictures!

I carefully figured out which pictures would work, finding lots of smaller, long distance pics for the small spots.  I used the big tab with the circle for both a picture and then my journaling underneath.  

To achieve my blue "oceanlike" color for the die cut I used three different Powderpuff Chalking Inks.  I started with  "Baja Blue" and then used "Blue Moon" on the outside and then swiped "Blue Hawaiian"  in various spots over the top

I had fun embellishing the whole thing with papers from the Summer Samba collection.

So the next time you are looking to knock out a whole bunch of pictures on a layout consider trying this die cut to make it easy and extra special!

Sweet Cheeks

I'm loving black matting lately...especially with bright colors!  Next up I want to try an emphasis on white matting (:  Today I have a fun little layout I created about my little Cooper!  He's got these puffy little cheeks and gorgeous dimples, so I titled it sweet cheeks!

I recently saw several people wrap thread around their letters to add some pizazz to plan  letters!  I wish I could remember where I saw it, but alas I can't...if it's you that inspired me, do leave me a comment and I will add your name as my inspiration (:  

Momenta and Purple Cows Cross Promo

Today I am going to share two different cards with you featuring two different tools from the Craft Geek line.

 For this card I used the Summer Punch It tool.  To give you an idea of how great this tool is take a look at what it looks like:

As you can see I was able to flip and turn my squares to make a really pretty design!  It was easy to work with and I love how it took a boring square and made it into something spectacular!  I was able to create all four of my squares in just a few minutes time!

For my second card I used the Pin It tool with the bracket set.  I've never tried anything quite like this and it was fun to experiment.  I looked at the different pins available and decided I wanted to shape a cross with the brackets.  It was super easy to do and adds a one of a kind touch to this card.   I love that the pins are available in a copper, gold, and silver hue making them work in almost any color scheme!

Splash!!!

I'm a pretty big fan of winter...but the last week I have been ready for it to be spring!  You'll see that reflected in some of my projects that I share with you this week!  First up is a fun and funky layout!

I got a little crazy playing with supplies on this one!  I splattered orange mist like crazy and strung bakers twine in various colors to simulate a splash.  I like it mostly cause it's just different and makes me smile!

So Lucky!

I made this card quite a while ago, I think like September!  It was going to be in the Hobby Lobby in house magazine, but they ended up cutting the whole St. Patrick's Day section.  Major bummer!  But at least now I get to share it with you here!  I punched circles and then placed the green square stickers in the center of those circles and then just folded up the edges.  I like how it highlights the design of the stickers.  I love this folding technique, I just wish I could figure out even more ways to incorporate it!  It definitely adds interest without adding too much thickness to the card!

Sweet Baby Layout

Hi Quick Quotes Fans!  Christine, back with you today to share a layout about four special babies!

 I love the One Fine Day collection ad thought the colors in it would really pop against black so I set out to achieve that!  I cut some little banner pieces and then punched a whole bunch of stars and hearts to jazz up my background.  I also added a fussy cut cloud for some extra pop up top.  

I used pieces from the Frames Bag O' Chips and the Birthday Bag O' Chips to frame each of the babies.  I also used a butterfly from the Butterfly Bag O' Chips.  I actually only used one 4 X 6 picture and cut it apart for each frame.  As soon as I saw those frames I knew I wanted to use them this way!  I glued the frames down with Beacons 3 in 1 glue for a fast dry!  I've tried a lot of adhesives but this is hands down the best for a fast and strong hold. I also added a vellum overlay, that I trimmed down,  for my title.

Hi Scrapping friends!  Today I'm playing along with the Practical Scrappers Blog  Hop!

Welcome to the Practical Scrappers "Linking with Love" Blog Hop!  We believe it is important to always give credit when it is due to another crafter.  For this unique hop all of our design team members used the same inspiration piece to create their project.  Each of them will make an example of themselves as to how to properly "Link with Love" and credit the inspiration.  We'll be running the hop thru Noon EST on Sunday - so you have plenty of time to get thru it!

Liz Qualman created this beautiful layout and we have all used it for inspiration.  Each of us will tell what part we took our inspiration from.  The whole hop will culminate at Liz's blog where she'll provide us with a new sketch for inspiration.

And here's what I created!

I used a few different things for my inspiration.  First off the colors, I loved the color combination!  I also used the half circles in varying patterns.  I used mine to create the banner strips (also inspired by her banners).  And lastly I did some hand stitching on it.  As you can see I got a lot of inspiration from her fun layout and it was cool to see how that translated to a card!  And let's give a special shout-out to Momenta for all the beautiful patterned papers I used!

So a lot of the stuff you've been seeing from me lately is older....created for CHA or magazine submissions.  I haven't had much mojo lately, especially on layouts.  But last night I threw this together in about 40 minutes and I am completely in love with it.  I am finding that I really like to outline in black and often when I don't know what to add to my layout, this is just the ticket.  I even did outline letters....never done that before!  I did not have a good match in letter stickers and so I decided to play that way.  The layout celebrates healthy, beautiful babies born to me and three of my closest friends.  The babies are toddlers now :).  The paper was just screaming to me to do cross stitching on it so I did and I love how it brings out the colors even more!
