I made the Momenta Design Team!

I made this layout as one of my submissions in applying for the Momenta Design Team.  As soon as I saw this kit I knew I wanted it, I mean there are butterflies and flowers in it after all!  I love how it turned out but what I love even more is that I made the Momenta Design Team!  Several of my scrappy friends made it too!  Should be a marvelous team and an absolute blast to work with!

Don't you love it when you find a way to use an item in an unexpected location?  Usually pearls are used to add sophistication to a card or layout.  Today I am going to share with you one way I found to use them to add some dimension to whimsical projects.  These were created for Creative Charms, home to some absolutely fabulous embellishments!

If you look closely you can see I used two different shades of pearls (Gradient Pearl Stickers in White & Gradient Pearl Stickers Assorted) and a variety of sizes as well.  I started with the biggest and just started filling in from there.  

I did a similar thing with my cloud on this layout using some of Nikki Sivil's cute Summer line.  I also used butterflies and flowers from Pink Blooming Garden and Blue Blooming Garden included in the May Kit of the month.  They match this line perfectly and added just the right touch.  I used the Gradient Pearl Stickers  in White for my Cloud.  I used a variety of sizes but stuck with one shade of pearls for this one.  You can judge for yourself which you like better.

Since I was on a roll with the pearls I decided to incorporate them on one more card.  This time it's in a more typical sophisticated look...but still a different use.

Watermelon Page

Between the patterned paper and embellishments on this there is a lot going on here!  I created the watermelon using bakers twine and stickles...it was a blast!  I also created the little star pins using some regular stick pins and stickers from Momenta.

Card using Denim

The challenge this week at the Create blog was to use denim.  Since I have a 7 year old boy and there is no shortage of torn jeans around here, I had plenty to make use of!  I love denim and red together, so that was a no brainer!

Sprinkles for Two

How could I not take advantage of  all the great cupcake stuff out there?  The picture itself isn't the best, but I love how the layout turned out.  And sometimes the memories are more important than the perfect picture right?

Thing two and Thing three

This shade of brown cardstock surprised me...I've never used that shade before!  It came in the Scraptastic kit and it matched the stripes in Cooper's pjs perfectly :)  I love linear, simple layouts like this that come together easily.  This was the first one I did out of the kit...which also makes things easier :)

100% Pink Cards

The challenge this week at Create was to make a 100% pink card.  I made two and guess what....I don't think I really like pink!  I made one a little more busy and one more Clean and Simple.  Both use supplies form the March kit from Scraptastic Club

My White on White Layout

I've wanted to experiment with this for a long time.  Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly:  I love the classic, sharp look of white on white.  I love how the picture completely jumps off the page.  But photographing it and doing it justice was a nightmare!   Definitely is a technique I'm going to try again...very soon!

Lots of White Card

I have been a busy bee scrapping like crazy.  I've been making a lot of cards...which is not like me at all!  But I'm finding I have short spurts of time available right now...not enough to do a layout (I like to knock em out in one sitting), but enough to play a ltitle.  I also am loving trying out some different techniques without having to incorporate them on a layout yet.  Today we have a post up at Practical Scrappers about projects that use a lot of white.  I wanted to do this card as all white with tiny bursts of color.   It was hard to photograph!  But here's what I came up with.

I really love cobalt blue on white, always have...so that was a natural choice.  Plus I had some great Gradient Gem Stickers from Creative Charms to use!

Butterflies, Butterflies, and more Butterflies

I recently joined the design team at Creative Charms and am loving playing with all their embellishments.   Apprarently I'm on a bit of a butterfly kick :).   Here's the first two projects I created.

I had the idea for these butterflies in my head and the Gradient Gem Stickers provided me with plenty of gems to make the project work.  It was great having access to all the different colors and shades of those colors to make it work.

I made this card as part of a challenge for Cards magazine but with the intention of using some of the fun goodies you can get here!  The Loop d loop flowers have such a unique look, they really stand out and make a project look special!  I also used some red gems to add some bling to the card.  And BONUS it got chosen as one of the cards to feature at the aforementioned site.

Not scrapping but still crafty

It's been birthday season at our house so I thought I'd share some of my baked creations.

 This was Lucy's strawberry shortcake cake.  The outside is made up of Kit Kats.

 These were the cupcakes we took to preschool.  The flowers are the big marshmallows cut into four and then the sticky side was dipped in colored sugars.

This was Timmy's cake.  He wanted it with Kit Kats too, but his was in a football shape with M & M's on top.  I printed off pictures of his three favorite football players and put those on top.

I love making my kids a homemade cake :)

Hand Stitched Card

I've enjoyed the Create blog for awhile and decided this week to play along with their challenge and make a card with hand stitching.  Highly unusual for me to just make a card...but I enjoyed it!

I used my EK success flower punch as a template...poked holes all around it and then started doing long stitches upwards. I then did a backstitch all the way around and cut it out.  I always like to do something different than everyone else, haven't seen anything like this so Yea!

This layout took forever...the layering thing and placing and title just weren't flowing for me!  The title is Coopa, chalupa, cachupa....we have all kinds of silly nicknames for little man and I took this chance to document them!

I am not usually a card maker.  But as I was working with this kit, I was lacking time and inspiration.  It has been a really long, stressful couple weeks for me!  So having completed four layouts and having an idea for this card I went that route!  It incorporates two of my favorite supplies right now...my little flower punch and bakers twine.  I don't think it took much more than five minutes to make this...it helps that I had the idea in my head already...but wow stickers make things sooo fast!

2nd Paper Trail Project

I've been seeing a lot of overlapping banners on layouts and wanted to give that a whirl...kinda fun :)  Love the contrast of the more muted colors with the cobalt blue.

Paper Trail Kit

I worked with the April kit from The Paper Trail for a feature at Practical Scrappers.  This was my favorite of the five projects I created...so I thought I'd start here.  I made the flower looking things in the bottom left corner using my scallop punch, circle punch, and some thread.  I just started messing with them and came up with that...reminds me of the spinmaster toy from when I was a kid.  I'm hoping to soon work on a tutorial for those.  Scallop punch was the best purchase ever....I use that thing on at least 50% of my projects!

Another Eyelet Page

This is my second page that I created for the eyelet challenge at Practical Scrappers.  I used eyelets in the corner of the brown matting to send my white thread through.  I also used them at the top of the tags underneath the title.  The rest of the page is almost all more fabulous Bella Blvd stuff!

Eyelet Challenge & Big News

I am so excited to share that I made the design team for Creative Charms.  They are an embellishment company and I know I'm gonna have blast jazzing my layouts up with their products!

Second up I've got a layout to share today.  The challenge on Practical Scrappers was to use eyelets.  I used them on the corners of my picture framing.  I used a whole bunch of Bella Blvd on this, love that stuff!

Bella Blvd Feature Day Two

Second day of Bella Blvd features at Practical Scrappers.  Today it focuses on the Family Dynamix line and the Tail Waggers & Cat Naps line.  I really enjoyed working with both lines.  They have cute paper and cute stickers to go along!

This one is soooo sinmple, but I love it!  Probably has something to do with the cute mouse :)

This one took forever, I was tired and probably overthinking everything.  The TLC in the bottom stands for my kiddos names Timmy, Lucy, Cooper.

I'm really enjoying the current layout trend of putting something small off in another edge.  I love this layout and the picture with how it plays on the doggy theme.  I had this picture for two years and could never figure out something to do with it.  I'm glad I saved it and didn't force it.
