Guest Designing with PageMaps

This month Paper House's design team is guest designing for PageMaps. PageMaps is a great site that produces new sketches each month for whatever style of scrapbooker you might be! They have double page spreads, 8 1/2 X 11, multi-photo and more!  I worked with an 8 1/2 X 11 sketch for my layout!

Sketches are always a fun way to speed up the design process a bit and get those creative juices flowing!  I decided to dive into the Colorways Orchid Collection for my layout.

I used a combination of patterned papers, the accent pack, and puffy stickers throughout the layout.

For the top of my layout I decided to fussy cut part of the Orchid Tapestry Paper so that I could add some dimension to the flowers.  After cutting it down to size I put foam adhesive pieces beneath select petals so that they would pop up.  A couple pieces from the Accent Pack helped add some silver in up top.

The frames from the Accent Pack were perfect for the small pictures the layout called for! The Accent Pack also had the right pieces to make a pretty title.  The Peace Puffy Stickers added some extra dimension and silver alongside and below the pictures.

One of my favorite things about the Summer Lovin' line from Samantha Walker and Carta Bella is that it included some moments that get left out of a lot of summer lines, but lots of us experience.  I knew I wanted to make use of the lemonade stand stuff to document my kiddos and their stands from the last two years!  I figure now that summer is wrapping up I better get some of these memories committed to layouts!  You are also going to notice a new trend with me - I have been doing a lot more 8 1/2 X 11 layouts!  Not sure why but that canvas seems to be where my brain is going a lot!

I went for an 8 1/2 X 11 base this time and layered papers onto a green cardstock background.  I left a  little of that to peek out underneath the colorful vertical stripes. I lined up my pictures (one from each year) vertically on some more green cardstock.

I fussy cut out a giant chevron from patterned paper and added that as a focal point in the base.  I really like how it plays off of the colorful vertical stripes!  

Coordinating stickers and wood pieces make up a few clusters around the layout but otherwise I kept it clean and simple.  I can't believe these summer days are already wrapped up and we're on to the next season of Back to School and Fall!

One of my dear friends oldest son started high school the other day.  She captured this photo of him and her youngest and I just loved it.  She doesn't scrap but she does keep a baby book that is 8 1/2 X 11 so I created this for her to stick in his baby book. 

I went for fall colors and colors that I knew she would love also!  Everything is from Doodlebug Design.  If you follow this hop each month you will notice I use their goodies a lot!  I love their stuff and their colors all match up from line to line so it makes it really to mix and match with what I have left over.  This layout for example has pieces from I think 6 different lines!

Kiwi Lane Designs - Hazel & Ruby

I am in the last month of my term with Kiwi Lane Designs.  I can hardly believe almost nine months has passed!!!  They do not do back to back terms for their designers so I will definitely not be back this next term and we will see what the future holds...Today I have my last regular project with them and will have one more special one in a few weeks! This month we are teamed up with Hazel & Ruby - they have some different products that I had played with before so it was a fun creative challenge!

One of the things Hazel & Ruby sells is rolls of tissue paper that are acid free! I really wanted to try out the tissue paper on a layout so I decided to get out the Mini Madison set and use every single one of them!

I cut out each piece and then inked them.  I then began to layer them to create one big dimensional ruffle.  It ended up looking really cool.  The tissue paper is light enough that it almost floats up like ruffles. Creating this much at the bottom I knew I needed to keep the rest of the layout pretty simple so I went real light on embellishments for the rest!

I used the masking sheet to create my title.  I got out some mist and then sprayed away. Once it was dry I cut around it leaving a slight border. I also added some Hazel & Ruby Sequins to embellish around the title.

My final post for CutCardStock

 It's hard to believe that six months has passed and my term with CutCardStock is over!  I can't wait to see what fabulous creations the next team comes up with!  For my last project I decided to do a layout with a whole lot of paper piecing!

My base is a piece of Solar White Neenah Cardstock.  I then used papers from the Pop Tones line to create my chevron pattern. I also used some CTI Glama Marbled White Translucent Paper to create the heart behind my picture.  Here's the scoop on how I created my chevrons:

I cut out one of each color

And then cut them apart at each parallelogram.  Then I pieced them back together on the layout.

It requires patience but is worth it because of the results!
