CHA Projects - Hello Baby Girl

I always love the chance to create projects for the annual CHA (newly named Creativation) show each year! Paper House had me work with several different collections and I am going to share the baby girl themed ones today! Paper House already has this collection available in their store!

First up I'll share my favorite of the projects:

After having so much fun making a Christmas Embroidery Hoop wall hanging I knew I wanted to do another with their Acetate Paper for this collection. I did a ton of fussy cutting for this project - the banner and all the flowers are all fussy cut. It's not hard to do and turns out to be a really unique home decor piece! Here's the video I created on how I made my Christmas one!

I shared this Flipbook earlier but now Paper House has added this collection to coordinate with it! They displayed this flipbook along with the other new flipbooks at CHA!

Last up I have a layout - I pulled out my new We R Memory Keepers Alphabet Punch Board for this one - I am loving that board! In fact I like it so much I got the smaller one too! I love my Silhouette machine - but it's nice not to have to always lug it out to use and these punch boards offer a good alternative here and there!

By using the punchboard I was able to work in some extra patterned papers in this one and showcase nearly all the papers in the collection. Aren't the stickers so great too!?! I love those puffy ones!

Quick Tip Tuesday #9: Scrapping Boys #4 - Pocket Pages!

Anyone else have trouble getting pictures of their tween? Good pictures at least? Or good sports pictures? I end up having so many that are decent but not necessarily big layout worthy. What's my solution for that? Check out this Quick Video to find out!

Such a quick and easy solution to using those less than perfect pictures! I really love how it turned out too!

The Best Goodbye - Creative Scrappers Sketch Layout

I was recently gifted the "Fun with Friends" Collection from Photo Play Paper and decided it would be great for documenting my daughter's going away party. The girls were all dressed in bright colors and were wild and sassy so it was a perfect fit! I also decided to incorporate the Creative Scrappers sketch for January! The two combined to make a fun and bright sleepover scrapbook page!

Here's the sketch I used:

And here's my interpretation:

The sketch took me a little out of my comfort zone with the triangle corner...but I love going out of my comfort zone! I opted for solid colors there and then patterned paper up in the opposite corner. I also incorporated some Bella Blvd felt bows and some clear Pink Paislee stickers that I attached with my Xyron Sticker Maker!

Stash Bash: Using up Letter Stickers Video & GIVEAWAY!

Is January making anyone else a little nuts??? I need some sunshine and life to calm down! I decided enough already it was time to make some of my own and that was the inspiration for this layout that knocks out a ton of letter stickers!

Lots of thoughts and details and changes went into creating this layout and I talk about that in the video here:

Quick Tip Tuesday #8: Scrapping Boys #3 - Capture those activities

This week's quick tip video focuses on scrapping those boys activities and using themed products to make that happen! I focused my attention on creating a baseball layout this week. Here's the video!

I made use of various baseball themed products from Paper House Productions to pull this layout together. To up the trendiness of the layout I used a sketch from StuckSketches - Laura did an awesome job with the sketch.

Using themed stickers, the All Star Collection, and a sketch made this layout come together in record time! Not to mention how pleased I am with how it turned out!

Adventures in Homeschooling: Density Science Experiment

I've been homeschooling our kids now for half a school year. It's had highs, lows, and lots of adjustments. I get asked about how things are going a lot and I thought I'd start sharing some details here on my blog. It will give me a good way to be able to look back and things we did and I'll be able to share how I get creative in that part of my life with you too!

With the start of a fresh new semester I decided to make a goal of doing at least one fun science experiment each week. It doesn't have to complement our curriculum - it just needs to be visually stimulating and have an easy and memorable lesson with it. I have been pinning things on Pinterest and then going back and looking them over to see if they are really practical to do!

I'm happy to report round one was a huge success! We did a science project involving liquids and density.We had recently talked about mass in our regular science curriculum so that was nice lead in to density!

Here's a link to the experiment that we did: Seven Layer Density Column from Steve Spangler Science. And here's how it went for us!

We did a layer of honey, Karo Syrup (with food coloring added to it), Dawn dish soap, water, vegetable oil, and rubbing Alcohol (with food coloring added to it). We did not do a layer of lamp oil at the top as he calls for...I didn't have it on hand and knew I wouldn't use it beyond this so it was sensible to stop there.

It was a raging success with the kids! They watched as I slowly added each layer and made their own predictions about what would happen next. Even my four year old was completely engaged! After we discussed density and why the whole thing worked how it did we did another step that was suggested - adding things to float.We also talked about what the actual density level was for each liquid.

I did the bulk of the experiment in the first round but this part I let the kids take charge. They ran around the house collecting items to drop in. I think by the end of the experiment we had put in close to 100 things!!! There was various kinds of chocolate, legos, craisins, crayons, coins, popcorn kernels...so much! I literally had to make them stop! And with each drop they watched excitedly to see which level of liquids it would end up floating on.

All in all it was a win, they learned about density and also that different liquids have different properties and they are already excited to see what I've got up my sleeve for this week!

7 Winter Cards with Photo Play Paper's Snowball Fight

I was at the tail end of my kit from My Creative Scrapbook and had just enough supplies to get a good start on a set of Winter Cards. I pulled out some SRM Stickers supplies as well to help get the job done! And bonus! I have a process video to go with them! Here's the video:

Now let's take a close up look at the 7 cards:

I kept several things consistent with this set - they all have sticker stitches from SRM Stickers. They all have enamel dots from Doodlebug Design. Lastly they all have a Kraft Cardstock Base.

Each card also has either a vertical stripe to add to the background or triangles in opposite corners. It was a great way to bring in some extra color and patterns!

I love the little snowmen having a fight here!

This one is probably my fave of all of them! - I just love that snowman in the mason jar.

I have no idea what this means but it made me laugh!

How great are the sticker stitches on here? They look like snowflakes and are just perfect!

This reminds me, I need some coffee ;)

Bible Journaling: Ephesians 2:8

I'm back at it and ready for a fresh new year in Bible Journaling - how about you!?! I love that there are no rules in Bible Journaling, you can just create and dabble to your hearts content! For today's share I did A LOT of dabbling with a piece based on Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God."

I have been watching lots of videos of talented artists drawing their own flowers and I decided to dabble in that for this project! My Black Le Pen was perfect for the doodling part! I knew I could use my stamps from SRM (Amazing Grace & Trust in the Lord) for little flowers in combination with doodling to create a fun background.

For each style of flower that I did I used a single color from my collection of WaterColor Pencils. I colored and then used a blending pen to spread the color and give it that pretty watercolor look.

I also wanted to play with masking on this project. I cut a sheet the same size as my original and then folded it in half and cut out a tilted heart. I then layed that over the top of my original and started stamping "Grace" over and over until I filled it. The word "Grace" came from the Big Amen set. Lastly I traced my heart again using my Le Pen to make it stand out a little bit more. I love how this ended up looking and most importantly I had a fun time making it!
