Front Porch Kit Layout

This is the great kit I got to work with for a feature on Practical Scrappers.  I really enjoy this monthly feature and this month was no exception. I am always amazed how different each kit is...you can see how owners really put their own spin on things.

I used some of the fabric to create rolled flowers (first time ever!)  I also used some of the yarn to create the smaller flowers that mimic the rolled ones.  This paper from My Minds Eye and Crate Paper is gorgeous and I had to find a way to use as much of it as possible :)  I really really love My Minds Eye Stella and Rose line.  I haven't always been a huge My Minds Eye fan, but their stuff lately has really been appealing to me!

If you know me, you know I don't do a ton of altered projects stuff.  But this idea was too cute to resist.  This family tree wall hanging was based on a project from their cd-rom.  The corrugated cardboard actually came from the box they sent the kit in.  The tree die-cut is a special feature in this kit as well.

Some more of that paper...I fussy cut it to show off the flowers from it.  I love this picture of me and Cooper, I know I am totally cut off, but I love that you can see in my face how much I love that little guy.

I used some more of the fabric to create the yellow flower.  The blue flower is from their build a flower template...I bent it a little too much.

This layout showcases all that texture...mesh, blue netting trim, flowers, buttons...As you can see I barely used patterned paper!  I always think it's cool when texture provides the depth for a layout.

Cards Magazine Bling Challenge

I decided to bling up a flower and went crazy with my Creative Charms Gradient Gems.  Here's what I have figured out about bling clusters...you have to have multiple sizes or else it looks to rigid.  This is such a Clean and Simple card for me, but couldn't go too crazy with that much bling!

Faith Layout

In religion class this year Timmy wrote a prayer.  I have been looking for the right opportunity to scrap that.  This Faith "Bingo card" provided the perfect jumping off point.  I did my journaling with some tiny Cosmo Cricket letter stickers...it took a lot but there was plenty in the pack!  I'm finding I'm using a lot of ivory in my layouts right now...very new for me!

Lucy's Birthday Party

Another day up on the Momenta blog for me and today I am sharing a multi-photo layout with you featuring lots of bright and cheery Momenta products.  I created this layout based on a sketch from Pagemaps.  I have never used this color combination before, but will definitely come back to it, I'm loving that green, pink, and red combination!  Don't you just love it when you can get more than one picture on a layout and not have it be a jumbled mess!  Have you had a chance to check 0ut the Momenta blog yet?  It's full of great designers and we'd love to have you as a follower!

Masking Tape on Cards? Yup I went there!

Last month I did coffee filters on a card to complete a project for Practical Scrappers new frugal finds feature.  This month it is all about tape.  I know you could run into all kinds of archival issues with tape and I don't have any spray to help with that, so I stuck with cards.  I came up with three using masking tape and one using electrical tape...if not for time I probably could have come up with more, I had a lot of ideas!

For this one I wrangled and twisted long pieces of masking tape and made them into little rosettes.  I think this one is my favorite!

For this one I attached electrical tape in stripes and then, you guessed it, did some embedded embossing.

Here I folded over pieces of masking tape and then curled the strips under and started layering them to make a big fluffy flower.  She topped it off with a big button and another masking tape rosette.

For my last one, I started with a circle and then starting from the outside pleated the masking tape along the edges, finishing one whole rotation before moving inwards.  It was a little tricky and definitely sticky, but in the end came out pretty cool.

My Premiere Layout at Momenta

Although you have seen other stuff I have made with Momenta, this was actually the first thing I did with their stuff.  I've just been saving it :)  When I saw this darling paper from the One Fine Day line, I knew exactly what I wanted to use it for!  As a mom, first smile pictures are some of the most important pictures around and definitely need some fabulous paper to commit them to.   I fussy cut some clouds to add some extra dimension and had some fun overlapping banners and offsetting the frames.  The original paper only had one monkey in a hot air balloon and I added the smaller two using stickers and die cuts.  I absolutely love the foil stickers on this.  They have the crimpled look that we are seeing a lot of now, but kicked up a notch with foil!  I don't know if you can see it or not, but his onesie even says "Son of a Scrapbooker"

Clean & Simple Patriotic Card

It seems like everywhere you look in the scrapbooking industry (esp online) you see the CAS initials...CAS means Clean and Simple and it has exploded in popularity.  Inspired by all the simplicity I decided to pull out our June Deal of the Month from Creative Charms and try my hand at at CAS card.  Isn't it amazing how sometimes doing less can be harder!?!  Seriously...it was hard to just stop and let it be.  Here's the card I came up with today:

Photobucket

All the blingy goodness you find on this card is in the June Deal of the Month.  The little butterflies are created using pieces of the vintage jewels.  Just because it's Clean and Simple doesn't mean it can't contain unique embellishing or bright colors!  I enjoyed this venture into trying out a different style and I hope you did too!

Paper Weaving Card

I'm loving the Create blog and it's weekly Cards Challenge.  This week the challenge was to do paper weaving.  I did mine onto a rectangle scrap and then traced a bird on the back of it.   Once I cut it out I stuck the whole thing thru my cuttlebug and gave it the embedded embossing treatment...yeah I'm kinda loving that lately :).  This is the first time EVER that I have done a shaped card...I absolutely love it.  I borrowed the Wild Card Catridge from a friend...not sure I want to give it back now :)

Whatcha Doin?

We are huge Phineas & Ferb fans in our house.  This weekend I created both a card and a layout featuring the fine characters from it!  Practical Scrappers is featuring Disney cards today, so this is a perfect fit!  My favorite thing about this card is the bakers twine hair!

My Day at Creative Charms

Today I've got a couple projects featuring some of the flowers from the June Kit of the Month.
My first project uses the soft pastel colors of the blue felt flowers.

It also features Embedded Embossing which you can learn all about on Practical Scrappers today!  It's a really cool and fun technique that I think looks marvelous with polka dots!

My second project focuses on the Red, White, and Blue aspect of the kit...using the layered felt flowers.  Don't you just love that this kit is so versatile?

Here's all the contents of the kit...it's a great deal and a blast to use!

Wave card

I attempted some embedded embossing on this card but didn't want it to all end up one layer...I'm such a dimension nut!  My sun rays, the clothes line, and the sentiment are not included on the embedding.  This card fits the Cards blog call for waves this week.

Fathers Day Card

I made this card for Practical Scrappers and for the Create challenge, yup I'm really enjoying that challenge right now!  So much beautiful inspiration!  I used stamps from MME in their Stella line.  I have to say I love those stamps!  I am a loyal CTMH gal and have rarely purchased a stamp set from anyone else, but this set cost $7.00 and it worked perfectly on the first use.  I was amazed with all the detailing on it, how marvelous it was!  I knew I wanted to go with a black & white theme with a punch of color.  I thought these color worked well...what in the world do you call it though? :)

Supplies used: AC letter stickers, MME acrylic stamps, The Twinery Bakers Twine
