Studio Calico Club Feature

Here are the five layouts I came up with using this months "Metropolitan" kit:

Studio Calico has a great blog and a facebook page.  I have enjoyed the regular updates they do on Facebook providing examples from the current kit.  Their blog features weekly challenges and product spotlights, along with several other regular features. .

Sweet Peach Crop Shop Kit

I was able to work with the November "Sweet Featured Kit" and here's the layouts I created:

This one took about 2O minutes...it came together so quickly thanks to the embellishments all being coordinated for me!

This one did not photograph well...the foggy day here in Illinois was not cooperating!  Total bummer because I really love how the layout turned out!  This one took longer but that's because I punched out and glued down all those little flowers...I knew that going in and it was totally worth it!  I had seen this technique on Melinda blog and wanted to attempt it.

 I've been itching to get my hands on some of this American Crafts rose ribbon, I was so excited it was in the kit...this whole layout was built around it!

  This kit featured a lot of paper from another one of our sponsors "Glitz Design" and this layout is all from them except the letter stickers.  The polka dots are one of their cute rub ons.  This layout was based on the sketch that they included in their kit.  It was created by Liz Chidester from The Scrappiest.

 What I really enjoyed about working with this kit is that I could do both bright, loud layouts and soft, calm ones like this.  On this layout I even used part of the packaging, a brown bag to mat the picture of Coop.  It matched his blankie too well to pass it up!

I was able to create five layouts in less than three hours and have plenty of letter stickers and patterned paper left over to do more.  I enjoyed having all the supplies ready to go and let me focus on being creative with them.  One of my favorite things about working with kits is you often get at least one thing that you wouldn't normally work with...for me that was the big black Theresa Collins flower from the "Harvest Honey" layout.  To my surprise when I added it to that layout I was thrilled with how it looked and I'm glad I got the chance to try it out!

Dixie Pieces Kit

I've been doing monthly kit reviews for Practical Scrappers and this the projects I did with the one for Dixie Pieces.  Here's what I was able to create using the Krafty Lime kit:

 I used my Martha Stewart fringe scissors on the fabric...made for a really fun look!

 These flowers were also created using my Martha Stewart fringe scissors and that fabric!

 This layout includes the twine mesh.

I'm sooo behind on posting!

This is a layout using mostly BoBunny products, the Sophie line.  Another one of those pages that was so pretty to begin with, it was hard to figure out how to make it my own.  I have a problem with buying those pages and then getting stuck (:

I had made one like this for Lucy's baptism and then had some scrappy friends request to see it, well I decided I would just make a new version for Cooper.  Lots of measuring and careful picture planning on this one.

I made this for Practical Scrappers article on black and white pictures.  But we had soooo many beautiful entries I didn't think I needed to add it in!  I used Close to My Heart's Magnifique line.

More Bo Bunny, can you tell I am hooked on them lately (:  I believe this is the Petal Pushers line.  This is a pic of me and three close friends from church last Easter.  Two of the four of us lost babies last year, along with another friend from church, so this was an special moment to recognize God's miracles.  We have all had our babies now.

Little Monsters

I am completely in love with all the little monster lines that are out there right now.  Bo Bunny has one of my favorites.  I always find layouts like this to be a challenge when the paper is already beautifully done for you, there just isn't too much to add!

Summer 2O1O

I asked Timmy to tell me the top 1O favorite events of his summer.  I used some cute pics of him from the summer to tell that story.  I love using him for the journaling, nothing better than seeing life thru your childrens eyes!

Jungle Adventures

This paper is some of the ugliest paper I have ever used, but it soooo worked for this layout!  I cut my animals using Zooballoo and then added some liquid glass to them to give some dimension.  I added some googly eyes and voila a cutesy animal layout about my two little animals (:

I loved doing this layout!  My favorite part is how I created the title from four different fonts, even the dh commented on how much he liked the title (:  I've had these pics for a year, which for me is a long time, so I was glad to get them committed to paper!

Buttons

This was actually last weeks project from Practical Scrappers, I'm running behind (:  I saw this paper and just loved the cute little moon and caterpillar!  Adding buttons to them for dimension just made them even cuter.  Throw a pic on there of my cutie Coop and the whole thing came together in a great way (:

This week the challenge at Practical Scrappers is to use ribbon.  I don't like to use ribbon, at all!  I had these cute pics of Lu with her little braids.  So I decided to braid my ribbon, which for a circle that big took FOREVER!

First Day of Preschool

I saw this Peacock Lane line in a magazine and knew I was going to have to find it!  Lucy's first day of school outfit was picked to match it (:  I lifted a lot of this layout directly from BoBunny's ad, but much of it is my own original ideas added to it too.

1 Great Day

One day of our family vacation consisted of time in Baltimore, Anapolis, and Washington DC.  I could spend a year working on those pictures, but decided to do one highlight from each part and then combine the rest on this collage layout.  I used my white pen and circle stencils to draw the white circles.  Little letters from Cosmo Cricket are used to tell the different locations.

Jesus Loves Me

Lucy sings "Jesus Loves Me" literally at least 1O times a day.  In fact while I was making this layout she was working on her "layout" and singing it over and over.  So sweet I had to do a page about it.  I love how this one turned out!  I used my cuttlebug to emboss some music onto the white paper circles.  The Jesus Loves me title is part of the paper in the big circle.  I've had that paper for 3 years, who knew it would be such a perfect fit!

Smashing Crabs

I think I'm getting addicted to Kraft paper...I really am starting to love it and want it on everything (: My favorite thing about this layout is that I used up a whole bunch of letter stickers that I had forever, in fact I never thought I'd actually use them again!

Her All Star

This layout was based on a cover layout from Creating Keepsakes last spring. I saw it and loved the flow of it. It fit well for doing a layout about Lucy loving her big brother. She always anxiously awaited the end of the school day for him and then greeted him with a big hug. So, I being the insane scrapper, made sure to document this (:

I love the colors on this layout, they step out of my normal color scheme!

Baptism Layout

I saw this doily paper from Basic Grey and knew I wanted to use it for a baptism layout. In incorporated some BoBunny clear acrylic flourishes. The little blue hearts are a blue fabric flower that I cut up.

The title "Father Welcomes" is a hymn that is regularly sung in our church, especially on baptism days. It also is a favorite amongst the kids in our church, it seemed like a fitting title for a baptism page about Cooper being welcomed by his heavenly Father.

I'm back

After a long hiatus to spend time with baby Cooper, I'm back into my scrapping! This is a layout I created after a long day of potty training, all about my little sweetie who can also be a little monster (:

This was also done for Practical Scrappers White Pen Challenge. I outlined most of the cardstock with my Sakura White Souffle Pen. I also added white to my letters.

First Day of School Layout

No I'm not that good, these are not from last week!  These are actually from last year :)  Loved this line from Simple stories and decided to pick up some pieces from it to use.  Different style from what I use normally but you know me, every once in a while I like to think outside of my normal box and play with a different style.  This one still has my normal bright colors but more of a vintage feel to it.  He looks so little a year ago - isn't it fun to look back? :)

Phineas & Ferb Layout

Let me premise this layout with saying that I am completely annoyed with myself for not putting these clear stickers on white paper and cutting them out...grrrrr! I tend to put stuff on my layout and then pull it back up 17 times...but these would not come back up and let me change my mind :(   Nonetheless here it is!

My son was Perry the Platypus for Halloween so for the Disney feature on Practical Scrappers I created this layout featuring the fun characters from Phineas & Ferb.  My favorite part is the bakers twine being used to catch Dr. Doofenschmurtz (sp???)  Even though I'm not thrilled with the stickers issue, I do love the colors and the fun feel of this layout.

Baby Boy Meyer's Nursery

Once we knew the baby is going to be a boy, Timmy and I decided his nursery had to be train themed. We, all four of us, have worked have worked hard on decorating it and getting it ready. Aside from setting up linens etc, I think we are basically decorated! This was the first time I've had the cricut to use on a nursery...wow did it open up tremendous possibilities!

I made custom curtain rods from wood dowels that I painted white. I painted wood trains and used those for the curtain rod holders...I did white trim to look like stitching on those using my Sakura gel pen. It worked awesome on wood with acrylic paint!

Above the bedroom door

I couldn't find a sign like this that I liked on the cricut, so I made my own with cricut letters and white Contact Paper. Also the tracks you see, circle the entire room. I initially was going to do them with vinyl...but that was cost prohibitive and frankly kinda ugly. So I hand painted these instead and am quite happy with the result! Can't beat $2 for the bottle of paint!

Each of my kids have a verse hanging up in their room that I created on the cricut. Again this is just Contact Paper....so much cheaper than Cricut vinyl! I was inspired by a scrapping friend, Amy, to tie this verse into the room! You can also see a couple more of the curtain rod holders...I did each one a different color.

Got the sign off of the Going Places cartridge. I used Contact paper for the background and regular Black Cardstock for the black part.

I made a five car lenth train because I wanted to spell out Meyer on it. Timmy picked the colors and it turned out pretty well. For each of these I cut using the Blackout feature and then used Cardstock for the colored parts. I made sure the paper I used was fadeproof.

This is a closeup of the engine train, I did a white trim on all these too to look like sewing.

I think I am done with the decorating part for now. I've got some more ideas, but those will have to wait until we meet the little peanut and give him a name!
