DIY Christmas Countdown Chalkboard and Process Video

Have you been enjoying all the Shimmers projects over the last couple weeks at Paper House Productions - Aren’t they a fun product!?!  Today I have a quick and easy Countdown Chalkboard to share that uses some of the Christmas Shimmers!

I completely love this Rudolph! Not only does he light up but his nose blinks!  It’s so fun!

And Santa lights up all over too!  Check out this video to see a quick peek into how I put it together and how they light up!  These two Shimmers are bigger but Paper House also has several that are smaller and banner style!
One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that I picked up the chalkboard for $3.00 in a big box store – any kind of chalkboard will do! I liked that this one had some white doodling on it already!

Not Funny! A Doodlebug Design Layout & Process Video

A few weeks ago I had a night where I could not sleep.  So I wandered into my scrapping room and was playing around and idea came together.  I set it to the side to work on more in daylight hours and that is where the layout I have to share today comes from!

I needed to do something just for me and so I worked on this and decided it would be a fun one to do a video of as well!  So here's a new process video that walks you thru not only why I created this layout but also my why behind some of the product choices!

My Creative Scrapbook Creative Kit layouts & Process Video

You just can't go wrong with Doodlebug Design and this month their fall collection "Flea Market" is featured in the Creative Kit for My Creative Scrapbook!  You've already seen me play with it several times but today I have three more layouts to share with you!  And I actually have one more on my desk currently...so you'll be seeing another ;)

This one was quick and easy to put together and I love the results!  I cut two circles to add to the base - slid my picture in where I wanted it and then went after it with embellishments  The trees from the Odds & Ends set were my jumping off point and then I filled in with flowers and stickers.

This one has major design actually hidden behind the picture! The base sheet is actually a really cute Flea Market page that is perfect on it's own for decor.  But since this is a kit club and you want to see how to use the paper, I covered it up allowing just the trees to peek out!  The little mice are a fun and whimsical touch.  I also added strips of the "fancy frills" that come on the This & That Sticker Sheet in the Kit.

The last layout is based on this month's sketch (which I also created).  Sketches always make layouts come together a little quicker.  I loved all the circles in it and knew I could have fun mixing and matching the beautiful colors in it.  I have a process video for this one so I won't talk to much about it and let the video speak for itself!

Not So Spooky - Doodlebug Design Silhouette Cut Files!!!

I have been sooooo excited to share with you that Doodlebug has released their own line of cut files!   Our team is loving them and we know you will too! Christine joining you today with a Boos & Brews project! One of my go to things for my Silhouette is cutting BIG pieces.  Today I am going to show how I did just that with the Doodlebug Jar of Eyes File!

The Jar of Eyes Cut File is easy to work with and comes in several pieces.
I made mine nearly 10 inches tall and used a base piece to build it on.

You could stop right here and have a jar that would work for any occasion!  All I have done is attached the lid and the jar body to the base.

Because I was going for a Halloween layout - I kept going and used nearly all the pieces that come in the file.  I chose to cut some parts in patterned paper - adding some interest to the file.  As you can see I also outlined my pieces - you could add ink to the edges or outline.  I just like the extra pop that adds to a file!

I used all the cut file pieces for the eyeballs except for the last small circle.  Instead of using that I added black matte sprinkles.

I placed the eyeballs on the jar and then surrounded them with more eyeballs and circular pictures.

I also cut out my title in a big size.  These titles are going to be very handy when you want to make a big bold statement!  I cut mine at about 7 inches wide!

I cut each letter in a different color and then added eyeballs from the Odds & Ends for Boos and Brews because it fit so perfectly!

I can't wait to dive in to play with even more of the cut files!  Doodlebug just opened up a whole extra world of Doodlebug fun!

Puppy Love Layout and Process Video

I've shared before that our family recently got a new puppy and I knew Paper House Productions would have some great products for me to use to tell that story!  Today I am sharing over on their blog a combination of various papers and different dog stickers that they have!

You can catch all the details on this layout and how I created it with this new Process Video:

I used a sketch from Creative Scrappers to create this layout:

Here's a few more closeups for you to check out!

I loved the cute little dog house and that tag with the real metal loop on it!

Good punny phrase there with "furst"

This wasn't my favorite saying for up there but the size and colors really worked well so I rolled with it!

Inspirational Cards

Of all the new stamp releases, I think "The Lord is My Light" is my favorite!  There is just something about sunshine and light that lifts your spirits and makes you smile.  Christine joining you today and I have two cards for you using this set!

The set comes with several phrases as well as sunshine icons to accompany.  I created a background using orange and yellow ink with the various sunshines.

This verse is all one piece in the set  I love the mixture of fonts to make it visually interesting!  I stamped it and then mounted it on patterned paper.  I used some yellow gelatos to ink up the background and then added my cross and verse on top.

I used a similar background for my second card but didn't fill the whole thing with stamping.  Instead I left room for my sentiment!

After stamping my sentiment I used the yellow gelato again but with a softer touch than my previous card.  I also decided to add in some brown crosses to break up the orange and yellow a little.  The cross came from the Trust in the Lord set.

Do you have a stamp set that you are just loving?  Share your projects with us on Facebook and Flickr! We love to see your creations!

My Creative Scrapbook - October Main Kit Projects

It's reveal day over at My Creative Scrapbook and we've got some beautiful kits this month! I got to work with the Main Kit and the Creative Kit!  Today I am going to be sharing with you my projects with the Main Kit!  First up here's a look at what is in the Main Kit!  Lots of Amy Tan's latest "Oh Happy Life" from American Crafts with other odds and ends mixed in to round it out!

As you can see it's got a wide variety of colors in it and that really shows in my layouts!

This picture of my family was taken almost exactly a year ago!  Love that I finally found a home for it!  I did a lot of fussy cutting on this layout.  The glorious floral background is all fussy cut as well as many of the flowers framing the picture!  Love the contrast of colors that happened with the two different flower sets!

What can I say - I miss my Illinois friends! Loving our new Ohio life and home but doesn't mean I don't miss these friends a ton!  Scrapping has provided some good therapy for that.  Going back and documenting moments like this, that I hadn't gotten around to documenting, and remembering some fun times!  I also did a lot of fussy cutting on this one!  The hexagons are all cut out individually, that was a little crazy ;).

I had a couple cute pics of my youngest smooching his babysitters in Illinois!  He asked a lot of them to "will you marry me?" also before we left town.  Pretty sure he secured at least four fiancees :).  This first one is of  him on our last night there.  I used the softer colors in the kit to capture the moment.  Soft and sweet!

And here he is making moves on a another babysitter ;). She has been a big part of his life since he was born.  I love the spunky look on her face and decided to make this layout a little more funky to match it!  After I cut out a heart I then cut it up into pieces to make it like a puzzle.  I also did some machine stitching - I haven't done that in awhile!  I love what it adds to the layout and need to be doing more of that!

I will be back again soon with my Creative Kit layouts!  Check out My Creative Scrapbook to get in on their great kits this month!

Christmas Countdown Page with Process Video

Fun colors, cute icons, adorable embellishments; there is so much to love about Here Comes Santa Claus!  Christine joining you today with a project featuring this fabulous Christmas Collection!  I love the concept of documenting a whole bunch of your December pictures into a daily album - however loving the concept and being able to execute it are two different things.  I tried it once and it didn't work out great.  That said - I have tons and tons of Christmas season pictures!  Trying to document all those individual pictures in layouts is also never going to happen.  But today I offer you a different solution: use this countdown style page to capture a lot of your memories!
This page contains 25 squares - perfect for adding 25 pictures to a layout!  Here's a video for you showing exactly how I made that happen!

If you are good at planning in advance on this you can be very organized and actually document 25 days of December this year - or you can do like I did and just capture 25 moments!
I stuck mine on this Clipart Board from Doodlebug and my kids have loved looking at it already!  My 4 year old is especially intrigued - wondering where he can find a picture of himself!

I cut my squares open in different directions, some go up, some go down, some open on the right, and some open on the left - I really like how this looks!

I decorated some of the squares with additional embellishments - but not all of them!  If you want to make it quick and simple you can leave it alone completely.  Embellishing is part of the fun for me - so it's not to be missed!

My pictures were 2" X 2" squares - I'd actually recommend going a little bigger and doing 2 1/4" X 2 1/4" so you have a little extra room.

The Candy Cane Shaped Sprinkles are seriously the cutest thing!  I probably would have used them on every square if they would have fit ;)
